If you have not already heard the news – FOPBSS is making a decided difference at PBMS and MBHS and we are having fun doing it Below is a general list of our many proud accomplishments to share as we reflect on another fabulous year:
Pacific Beach Middle School:
- Funded 100% of after school choir teacher
- Purchased books, magazines and games to expand library inventory
- Purchased math department curriculum enrichment flash cards.
- Purchased animal parts for science class experiment
- Funded Red Ribbon Week activities
- Underwrote successful 4rd Annual Missoula Children’s Theatre performance – Wizard of Oz
- Purchased wireless handheld system to improve communication for PE department
- Purchased student incentives for student participation in international service project
- Hosted ice cream party to honor students who satisfied or exceeded community service requirements.
- Contributed to funding of registration & travel fees for PBMS band competition in Orange County – Gold medal winners!
- Provided $1000 grant to fund 7th Grade Catalina educational trip
Mission Bay High School:
- Granted scholarships for 4 MBHS seniors – total scholarship$1500
- Underwrote the choreographer for drama department production
- Funded Marine Science Floating Lab $4,000
- Purchased water polo equipment
- Purchased shelving for IB English Department
- Provided PE program with funds for student fitness incentives
- Purchased classroom supplies for Art Department
- Purchased IB enrichment material to support IB curriculum
- Underwrote printing charges for multiple editions of “The Beachcomber”
- Sponsored beautification of newly renovated alumni Vietnam Memorial
- Paid for shipping for IB exams and papers
- Purchased supplies for after school culinary program
- Purchased supplies for French department curriculum enrichment
- Underwrote transportation costs for AVID field trip
Supporting Good Will with Our Pacific Beach Secondary School Families, Community & Teachers
Pacific Beach Middle School:
- Hosted Back to School Pasta Night
- Invited all elementary school students in PB to audition for Missoula Theatre program to promote PB cluster unification.
- Organized a campus clean ups/beautification event
- Garden Program
- Provided decorations and awards for promotion ceremonies
Mission Bay High School:
- Provided refreshments for underclass and senior awards
- Assisted with hosting first annual yearbook signing reception
- Funded two mosaic art murals on music and drama department wall
- Contributed to funding of historic logo mural on Grand Street
- Purchased decorative trash cans to promote campus beautification
Both Schools:
- Hosted several Teacher Appreciation Luncheons and week long teacher appreciation celebration
- Awarded Community Supporter of the Year 2009:
- Mission Beach Woman’s Club
- Coordinated Holiday Cookie Trays for teachers
- Hosted Back To School lunches for teachers
- Hosted summer Outdoor Movie night
