Note: Friends of Pacific Beach Secondary Schools (FOPBSS) is a registered trade name of Mission Bay High School Community Foundation. We operate legally under the FOPBSS name to provide our fundraising support and services as a parent-teacher organization to the communities of Mission Bay High School and Pacific Beach Middle School. Your donation and/or tax receipt may appear under the name Mission Bay High School Community Foundation.

Thank you for supporting the students and teachers at PBMS and MBHS! Proceeds go toward many programs, including IB, tutoring, athletics, PBMS zero period, and more.

Fundraising Goals

Our goal is to supplement funding for existing programs, new programs, educational supplies, equipment, and facility needs at PBMS and MBHS to provide a quality education for all students at these schools.

The FOPBSS board of directors is elected annually and consists of the principals, parents, and teacher representatives from both schools. Since our inception in 2003, we have contributed countless dollars to
MBHS and PBMS programs, resources, and improvements; advocated for better resources and campus facilities for our students and teachers; and have created a strong community of Pacific Beach locals and families that CHOICE into our schools from throughout the county.

How We Raise Our Money

FOPBSS is a registered 501(c)3 organization, and all donations are tax-deductible .We raise the majority of our money through parent contributions. Each year, we have three major fundraisers — a contributions drive in the fall, an auction/gala in the spring, and a 5K Schoolyard Dash in the winter or spring. We also have smaller event fundraisers throughout the year, including a chili cook-off, PBMS Scholastic book fair, Green Gardens holiday fundraiser, family nights, and more. FOPBSS also has a corporate sponsorship program in which we invite community organizations and businesses to sponsor our organization.

FOPBSS’s Annual Budget is $100,000.
